You possess an object, a document or a picture you would like to present the Museum with?

You possess an object, a document or a picture you would like to present the Museum with? For reasons of sound organisation we explicitly ask not to present documents or objects unexpectedly.

How does it work?

Before bringing or sending objects or documents you are kindly requested to contact us (by mail, postal services or telephone). Pictures and/or a description of the object or any other information you might have about the object to be donated, as well as a short explanation about its condition will help us determine whether or not the donation fits our collections.

After analysis of the information provided we will contact you to let you know whether or not we are interested in the donation. We will then make an appointment to follow up on the procedure.

Conditions and criteria determining whether or not an item fits our collections:

  • General conditions:

The selection is carried out based on the social, scientific or museum value of the object with regards to military history and the history of conflicts.

The object has to fit the subjects broached by the RMM or be in keeping with the institution’s projects and missions.

Contrary to a deposit, gifts and purchases imply a transfer of property. Gifts and purchases are therefore final.

  • Special conditions for fire-arms:

Modern fire-arms and ammunition, as described in the 2006 law, have to comply with specific regulations. Modern fire-arms are weapons made after January 1, 1895.

The RMM does not accept anonymously donated arms or ammunition.
